Bach to the Future
Two special weeks of music and uplifting fun
for Children and Youth in Kindergarten through Grade Eight

in cooperation with the Carmel Bach Festival
and the Church of the Wayfarer, Carmel, California

In 2009 we have expanded our popular summer program
to feature
TWO WEEKS of Fun and Music!

Each week is a separate program. The titles of the sessions may be similar, but there is no duplication of activities in each week and no duplication from past years.

Week One: Bach to the Future
July 20–24    •    9 a.m. until 3 p.m
  (No session on Saturday)

Week Two: Get a Handle on Handel
July 27–31   •    9 a.m. until 3 p.m
(No session on Saturday)

Music opportunities abound at Church of the Wayfarer. Through music we teach and celebrate the child in young people, and guide them as they seek their potential, so they may be empowered to know and accept that they can make a difference.

Bach to the Future has been part of our musical offering to the community since its creation by Carteena Robohm in 2005! In collaboration with the Carmel Bach Festival, the program continues to flourish.

During these fun and enlightening two weeks, our young participants sing and make music, draw, dance, explore history and language, interact with singers and instrumentalists from the Carmel Bach Festival, and even learn to cook some of J.S. Bach's favorite foods!

The children and youth are divided into age appropriate groups for some of the sessions. There is a ratio of one adult to every six (6) participants.

A Bach’s Lunch is provided by Flaherty's Restaurant for the children each day, and each child receives a "Bach to the Future" T-shirt.

Bach to Church Sunday and Handel in Church Sunday will be the culminations of the week long programs as the children and youth sing the music of Bach and Handel at the respective services. Services are not duplicated.

Bach ‘N Tots

These sessions will be for children who are three and four years old. The children will be guided in rhythm and movement to Handel and Bach’s vibrant and energetic music. Bach ‘N Tots meet daily during the two weeks for one 45 minute session only. Cost for Bach ’N Tots is $50 for the five sessions each week. Time of session to be announced.
